Homemade Baby Food

Before our little one came into this world I decided that instead of buying baby food I would make it. The reason for this is that it cuts cost, as well as, I feel that it is a healthier choice. This is not to say anything against those who buy baby food, it is just a personal choice I have made. Our little superhero is 5 months old and getting ready to move beyond just rice cereal. So today I pulled out a new cookbook on how to make baby food. It actually was not as difficult as I anticipated.

First on our menu was bananas and pears. Here a few pictures to show the process.

Cut the bananas into 4 pieces and place in a bowl.

Mash the banana's up then place in food processor to make smooth.

With the pears remove core and cut into quarters. Then steam for 7 to 10 minutes.

Next place into food processor to make smooth. Breast milk, formula, or water may be added to make consistency thinner if to thick.

Ready to be placed into freezer.

This process only took me around maybe an hour to make both the bananas and pears, which is awesome for someone like me. As a working mom I don't have a lot of time and this was just whatt I needed. Mmm, can't wait for our little superhero to try these.

Next on the menu is peas and squash.

Working Mama in the Hizhouse :)

This post is way over due. I had a job interview for a nursing job/front desk in a neurosurgery clinic before Christmas which I did get and started this week. Having a job this week felt kind of like home to me because I have always worked outside the home. So when I was staying home I felt like I was missing something, just a little bit though :) The only thing that was different about starting this job is that I had to get two people ready in the mornings and I had to drop Elisha off to total strangers at the daycare. Which I must say did not go as I had planned. Monday morning I was already struggling to stay strong and not get to over emotional when I dropped him off. When I arrived they had to no record that he was starting that day. So it was about 7:40am and I had to be at work by 8:00am. I saw the director immediately and explained who I had talked to about him coming that day. She stated to me that he was not going to be able to stay possibly that day due to not having enough staff. Oh, let me tell you I was one hot mama. My emotions were already on high so this was not helping me to keep calm. The director called the person I had talked to and that person explained that I was suppose to be there that day. So the director said well since he wasn't on the list he could only stay until 2:00pm. Which I promptly informed them that it was a good thing my husband was available to pick him up for me. Just because I would have had to call in on my first day of work, which I was now running late for. So I left him with daycare and headed to my new job. I am proud of myself though because I cried after I left the facility not while I was there. Though I did fight back the tears. The rest of the week went slightly smoother except on Thursday I was getting ready to place Elisha in the car seat when I realized it was not in the house. I called Christopher cause I knew he picked him up the day before. Keep in mind, Christopher was already at work and his rotation is anesthesiology, which means OR. Luckily he was able to call me back really quick. He thought I had left the car seat in my car because he didn't see it at the daycare. So Christopher had to drive back home and pick up Elisha to take him to daycare. Needless to say we are new at this :) To say all this, work has been great and the daycare has been great in fixing the issues we had. My schedule is 3 days one week and 4 days another which is nice because that means I either have a 3 day weekend or a 4 day weekend. The daycare states everyday that Elisha is doing wonderful and when I leave him in the mornings he doesn't even notice I am gone. He is to interested in the toys. I am now officially a working mama.

Christmas was also wonderful. We flew out to KC for about 5 days which we were able to spend time with family and friends. Elisha did AWESOME his first time traveling so far. He either slept or played on the plane. We also had him dedicated on Christmas day during the church service, which is fun to think about because last Christmas we found out we were pregnant with him. That day was so special because it represents so much. God blessed us with this wonderful boy and as a couple we are declaring how we will care for this child. Also, we are stating that he is Gods child and publicly recognize that. The church gave us a certificate and a small blue bible with his name engraved. I will cherish these things always because I truly want our child to grow into a Godly man, one who loves the Lord with his whole heart. I posted pictures of his dedication outfit which was just to cute.

On a lighter note when we flew back to Michigan we promptly turned around and drove to Indiana because Devin is a general manager for a new coffee house/pub that was opening on New Years Eve and they were having a New Years party that night. Christopher's Aunt Debbie watched Elisha and his cousins so we could go out. It was an awesome party, which we stayed at until almost 2am. Devin did a great job hosting the party and they we so full that they had to shut the doors because the were max on capacity for the facility.

Once we were home and settled we noticed that Elisha just wasn't himself. He was very congested and was upset more frequently. Christopher called and made an appointment for him that Thursday which we were informed by the doctor that he had an ear infection. So we started him on a 10 day round of Amoxacillin promptly. By Monday the congestion had decreased significantly and he was able to sleep longer periods at night. We survived our first ear infection. Next week he has his 4 month check-up which means shots. Oh boy, we will have a fussy baby that weekend.

So that has been life so far here in the Rose household. I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I do pray that you all have a blessed 2012 too.

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Favorite Thanksgiving dish?
--- This is a hard question because I like far to much, which means I eat to much :) Though if I was to narrow it down it would be corn bread stuffing and pumpkin pie.

What dishes are you making for Thanksgiving?
--- This year I am contributing Chai Spice Girl cookies, Sinful Chocolate Chip Muffins and Pear and Goat Cheese Bread Tarts.

Do you have a Thanksgiving tradition?
--- Every Thanksgiving one of us come up with a craft idea. Mainly the women, the men are to busy watching the football game. This though is one of my favorite things of Thanksgiving.

Most memorable Thanksgiving?
--- Last year would have to be one of my favorite Thanksgiving because it was the first time that I hosted it. I was so nervous because we invited around 10 to 15 people and we only lived in a 850sq foot apartment. It however turned out wonderful because we had both our families with us.

Are you traveling? If so where?
--- We are heading to Indiana to spend time with Christopher's family.

Do you decorate for Christmas prior or after Thanksgiving?
--- I always decorate before because we travel so much between Thanksgiving and Christmas it is hard to really enjoy the decorations. Plus Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate the house for :)

Do you participate in Black Friday?
--- I have participated in Black Friday almost every year for the past 10 years. I love it.

What are you most thankful for this year?
--- This year I am thankful for our little man who entered this world on 9/1/11. He is more perfect for our family than I could have ever imagined. I am so blessed to have a beautiful family of three.

One of my greatest blessing is my little man

Today is one of those days where you just don't want to go anywhere, stay in your pajamas and watch TV/read a book. Luckily I was able to get a little yard work done just before the storm because Christopher was home to watch our little man. I forgot just how much I enjoyed doing yard work. Something about it is refreshing. I am not sure if it is because the yard looked messy before and is now more appealing to the eye, who knows. It just felt good to get outside on a nice morning and do some type of activity. Now I am so out of shape that my body may be feeling it tonight.

As I sit here listening to the rain fall I can't help but think just how blessed I am. When I look at my life I can see so many instances where God protected me, held me, and guided me. I think in life I just go without stopping. The days have become a blur and there is so many times that I can't even remember what I did two days ago. But if I just sit here in silence with the only sound being that of rain hitting the roof my memories come back. These memories may be good, happy memories while at times they are memories of pain, and grief.

I watch movies and think just how boring my life is. There really is no action just the daily tasks that I no longer have to use the brain to do. How untrue is that. My life is filled with more depth than any movie can produce. I have felt happiness, love, pain, grief, jealousy, anger, peace, loss etc. all at different points in my life. There has been conflict with resolution and relationships that have ended.

Life has thrown me so many different trials and experiences. As I look back on them I can see where God played a large part in the direction my life took. I could have been a different person entirely just due to my understanding of my own human nature. Yet some how I see how God was by my side either allowing things to happen or just holding my hand. I would not be the person that I am today had it not been for him. He has blessed me beyond measure and continues to help my through my difficult trials. I know that if I continue to put my trust in him the pain that I feel now will soon subside. I will find peace among these conflicts and enjoy the blessings I do have.

Thank you Lord for all that you have done for me and yet to do. May you always be my constant in life.

To Work or Not To Work?

The holiday season is in full swing and I am enjoying every minute of it with our little superhero. The only hard part is thinking about what little time I have left being a full-time mommy. Before we decided to have children we talked about what I would do regarding work. We tossed up every option and came to an agreement on one. We decided that it would be best for our family and myself that I still continue to work. However, we did agree that while our children are small that I would only work part-time and then eventually I can pick up a full-time shift when they are grown. Now I am not changing my mind on my professional life, I am just realizing how much I will miss not being with our little man everyday. Right now, everyday is a new experience and adventure. Just the last couple of days he has figured out that he can make his walker light up. He is interacting more with us as well. Hmmm, these are the great joys of being a mom.

However, I do have a confession to make. Before we had our little man, I use to be more severe on the stay-at-home moms. In my mind, I could not figure out how they could be just so busy and have very little time. Mmmm, I must humble myself and apologize for that inaccurate assumption. I now have realized just how difficult it can be to accomplish all the things you need in one day without interruption. Before a child I could get the house clean in just a couple of hours, have the bills paid before due date, grocery shopping done and dinner ready at a good time all in one day. The rest of my time off was spent on the things I liked doing. Not so much any more. I am lucky if I get a good scrub down on the house within a day. Right now it can take up to two depending on what the mood is in the house. Dinner is no longer on the table before 7:oopm and bills are situated according to dates due and mailed out at certain times. Grocery shopping is only accomplished when Christopher is home. Organization has never been my strong suit but it has become my priority so that I can keep my sanity.

So in the end I have realized that a working mom or a stay-at-home mom both have very busy lives. In the end all that matters is that we enjoy our children with the time we do have with them.

Baby Blues and All

Life with a newborn has been both challenging and rewarding. The first several nights were by far some of the hardest nights thus far but as we spend more time together a routine develops. He is starting to sleep at least 3 to 4 hour stretches during the night. He is also sleeping in his own room now which is nice for mom and dad. I know before we had him that we wanted to establish a sleeping routine with him in his own room. I have finally figured out that these lullaby cd's really work. It is the only thing that will help him sleep. At the beginning we were trying everything under the sun to help him. It is crazy so many people say how tiny he is but to me he is getting bigger. I am still in shock that he will be 1 month on Thursday. This however is a great reminder for me to truly cherish this moment now.

As for me postpartum is starting to creep its way into life. I don't feel depressed but my anxiety level is sky high along with irritability towards my husband. I have decided that I need to probably talk to someone now rather than later so this does not get worse. I don't want anything to spoil our time that we have. I didn't realize how hard it would be for me to seek help even when I know that I am need of it. The best part is that I have a wonderful husband that is behind me to encourage even when I am afraid.

Though the baby blues have hit hard I could not ask God for a more beautiful baby boy to call ours. We have already gone on many adventure together, such as, the grocery store, dueling coneys, downtown Birmingham, several Target trips, restaurants, and walks around the neighborhood. He has been fabulous on all of these and I look forward to all our future adventures together.

Parenthood is so much work and adjustment not only for me but for us as a couple. Yet, neither one of us would change anything. We are both just so in love.

Book for August

This month I read "The Thorn" by Beverly Lewis. This is actually a three part book called "The Rose Trilogy" so of course this is book one. I love to read Beverly Lewis' writings because she takes you into the Amish community through her fiction, which is such a different lifestyle than my own. In this book you are introduced to two sisters Rose and Hen. Rose lives with her ailing mother and father in their Amish community while her sister Hen chose to marry a man outside the community. The book follows Hen as she struggles to reconnect with her Amish roots while trying to save her own marriage and Rose as she begins courting with learning the desires of her heart.

If you like a good easy, clean read I completely recommend this book. In fact I recommend any of Beverly Lewis' books.

5 years ago today I married the best man in the world.

Some of the better highlights of the year are:

We are expecting our first baby.

Christopher graduated from medical school.

He is now working as a resident ENT doctor.

We found a great place to call home.

Though this year has been one of our hardest yet happiest our love never stops.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I look forward to our life as we grow together as a couple and learn being parents.

Mission Statement

Yesterday at church the pastor discussed mission statements. One of the many things I am learning through God is truly loving people because I am not a people person at all. Many would say that in general they get along with people well, however, I am the opposite. Those words would not come out of my mouth. This is why it was much needed for me to hear the sermon this past Sunday. He didn't go into missions the way most churches do, instead he focused on what our mission statement is through God. He also discussed how we first need to understand God's mission statement before we can be part of it.

I love this song because it is a constant reminder that God has such great things ahead for his people and his work is not done. I know that I want to be part of his work for our world and so that is my constant prayer. May I truly understand God's mission for us and be utilized by him to complete his works.

Bookclub for July

I find myself now a days having to sit down a little more frequently through out the day. At times this is not always a bad thing because I am able to read books that I would not of had the time for. I actually am almost done with "Water for Elephants". This book was recommended by several people and of course a movie was made featuring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Patterson.

Right now I am reading "Fall to Grace: A Revolution Of God, Self, and Society" which was recommended by my brother-in-law. I have noticed that there has been a great deal of focus on grace recently. To me this is very interesting. He focusing on Paul's letters especially from Galatians, Ephesians, and Romans. Grace is also mentioned several times in Acts, as well as, Psalms, Proverbs, 2 Corinthians, and few others.

I love my husbands bible because it really focuses on applying and understanding the bible as you read. There is a dictionary in the back which states this "Grace- God's free and unmerited favor for sinful humanity" (Life Application Bible: NIV) Everyday I am so thankful that God has given his children grace because I know I have many flaws and more to come I am sure.

Now I am still reading this book so right now my thoughts are only about half the book. God is a loving and wonderful God. He bestows grace on us even when we do not deserve it but there is so much more to him. Many people I have talked to focus almost solely on God's grace and love. Grace is almost like a crutch to many because the path they choose never changes. In my opinion we are making God out to be just lovey, dovey and we are creating a life with no consequences. Through out the bible God is so many more things. How can we put him in just one category.

I will say this book has challenged me to truly find God. For so many years I have placed God in my life the way I want him in it but now I want to discover him in the way he is.

Why I Married

I was cleaning house today and found a notebook. I began to flip through it to see how many of the pages I have used. Normally when I find these note books only a quarter is actually used. During my flipping process I found a page titled "Why I Am Marrying Christopher". I assume this was from our marriage council days, which means prior to marriage. Here is the list:

Why I Am Marrying Christopher:

4. He has a cute butt :)
5. He makes me laugh
6. He is compassionate
7. Share life experiences with him
8. Build each other spiritually

As I look over this list I can see where we have grown and changed as a couple. Our love continues to mature along with our marriage. So, I decided to make a list called "What I Love About Christopher" and here it is:

1. A very Godly man.....He looks to God in all things of life
2. He is a great spiritual leader
3. Works hard for his family
4. I never question if he loves me because he always shows it
5. He is a wonderful listener
6. Has patience for many things
7. He is always making me laugh

10. He is very attractive and of coarse he has an adorable butt :)
11. He will be a wonderful father and example for our son to look up to.

Back at the beginning of college I made a list for the kind of man I was wanting in life. Well God heard me and gave me just the man. I am truly blessed and look forward to our future as a family.

Spare Time

I always enjoyed my art classes in school. Granted I don't think I am that good, I still enjoy it all the same. I have been looking at taking some painting classes. Living where we do there is so much offered in the ways of art. Just north of us there is a place that teaches you how to paint and guarantees you will complete a painting. So today I was browsing through Michaels for some paint brushes to finish the baby's nursery, I stumbled on a sale for all their art supplies. I bought two 16x20 canvases for only $5, along with a few paint colors, paint brushes, and few other things. I thought it was a great deal and now I can start experimenting with the art of painting myself.

Along with my new art projects I am also looking into some cooking classes. I don't enjoy cooking but I have always wanted to know how to make some amazing dishes. The cooking channel is always great to watch but I have never been brave enough to do the dishes myself. I have all these great cookbooks but not the confidence to start any of the recipes. So since I have the time I figured why not try a few new things in the culinary department as well.

It amazes me just how much fun I have had this last month. Christopher and I were both very skeptical of moving so far north but it has turned out to be great. We are learning new things, and just really stepping out of our comfort zone. It is always exciting to see just what God has in store for us even we can't see it.

Settled

We have been in Michigan for a month now and are finally settling in to a routine (sort of). Christopher is officially a doctor/M.D. and he starts his residency tomorrow. I am so proud of him in all that he has accomplished not just in his school/profession but as a man and husband. God truly blessed me with a wonderful, Godly man that our little boy can look up to.

As for our kitkat he is doing wonderful. We have established an OB here, hospital to deliver, and they say everything looks great. My belly is getting larger and his movements are getting stronger. I absolutely love to feel him move even though at times he kicks a little to hard. The nursery is almost complete. We have the walls painted, shelves up, furniture in place, and some pictures hung. Only a few items are still incomplete such as the wall stencil, bedding, and missing a few pictures to hang. Once the nursery is fully done I will post some pictures.

Christopher and I have found a home church here and look forward to getting involved. It is very small compared to the church we were attending but that doesn't really matter. Both of us feel that the pastor will challenge us in our walk with Christ which is what we want to have. Being stagnant is just not an option.

I am currently staying home at the moment until our little one arrives then I will start back to work when he is 3 to 4 months old. I like being home but at the same time I truly miss working. When I am at my appointments I watch the nurses wishing I was still doing that. Hmmm, it will be here soon enough, so for now I am enjoying getting our house ready for our little guys arrival and just the quietness that will soon be gone.

New Places with New Faces :)

This past week Christopher and I went up to Michigan to find a new home. We were able to stay with some of Christopher's family, which was so much fun. Chuck restores old cars and creates new designs for cars as well. He had one of the coolest "man caves" I have ever seen. His wife Candi was just so sweet and hospitable to us while we were there. Most of our time was spent cruising around the area just so we would know our bearings. We met up with a realtor that helped us with finding a home. I will say that it was kind of a culture shock being in Michigan. Now I am not saying that the area was bad, or unsafe just different. There were so many different streets that we were able to just walk around that had shops and eating places. The areas also have so many parks which I will take full advantage of when Elisha comes. While on our visit we were able to meet up with some of the residents already in the program Christopher will join in July. We had a great night out with all of them and truly look forward to getting to know them better.

So needless to say our week was full of house hunting, meeting new people, and becoming familiar with our future home.

Nurse on Duty

Christopher had a small surgery this past Monday. My mom came in town to help me out because this also was my last week of work. The procedure went well, and Christopher was home by 9:45am. The only catch was I had woke up feeling aweful. I wasn't sure what exactly was wrong but it was so hard to do much of anything. We finally got Christopher home and we were all able to take a small nap before I had to run errands. By late-afternoon I was miserable. My poor mom not only had to take care of Christopher but me as well. She was awesome of course. She even packed a few more of our things for us. I recovered enough to be at work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Christopher was up and about quit often as well.

Mom left us on Thursday meaning that I was now the nurse on duty for Christopher. Well it didn't take long before I had to use my nursing skills. Yesterday Christopher started to run a low fever with aches. He laid down for most of the day. The incision still looked really good so I was not worried. By evening his fever had broke but he still had a severe headache. Around 4:30am I was woken up to a voice calling my name from the front room. The fever was back but this time it was 102.0, so off to the ER we went. After 2 hours there (shortest visit on record for me) we were back home. The doctors said they couldn't find why he was running a fever so high.

Well the nurse remains on duty till he feels better.

I made Christopher Double Tree cookies. I think he liked them :)

The Beginning....

Things are beginning to creep up fast around our household. I can't believe how many changes we are about to have in the next two months. My last week of work is next week, Christopher has surgery, we will be looking for a new place in 2 weeks, moving in mid-May, and Christopher graduates at the end of May. So today I decided to start packing our second bedroom/storage/junk room. This bedroom contains our desk, filing cabinet, boxes I had no place to put, and our guest bed. I forgot just how much I hate and love packing all at the same time. The hate is just for the amount of time and hard work that comes along with getting the boxes all together. The love comes from the fact that I throw so much stuff out that we have forgotten we even had. It is at these moments feel like I am a hoarder. I decided to show you the mess that is still lingering after we went through the desk, boxes under the bed, and boxes in the closet.

From this point forward I will become more and more ready to move up to the lovely state of Michigan just so that I can unpack :)

Well as you all know we are about to start a new chapter in life. We are looking for a new place in an area we know nothing of, getting ready to finish my job here, pack the apartment up and taking it on a 17 hour drive, finding a new OB, Christopher's graduation, and starting our life in Michigan style. Phew, I think I feel an ulcer coming on :)

Now I am going to be honest I was not excited when we found out last Thursday that our journey was going to Detroit. In my mind I had everything worked out regarding the other choices we had available. In a weird and I guess selfish way I just knew that we would stay close to where our families were. When that notebook said Detroit I tried to put a brave face on for Christopher because I didn't want him to feel like he was doing something wrong. And as you all know I am slightly over emotional about everything right now :) Then one night I had an epiphany (light bulb) it doesn't matter where I go in life as long as I am with Christopher and our little one there is nothing greater. My husband brings me peace, comfort, joy, laughter, and love what more could a girl ask for. Christopher is going to a residency to be a wonderful ENT doctor and we have this amazing blessing that will be in our arms sometime in August/September. Plus we have an opportunity to create new friendships. Our lives are truly blessed.

Well as it always happens I am being taken out of my comfort zone and reminded of all the wonderful blessings during my selfishness. Thank you Lord for making me realize what the meaning of life is all about.

P.S. I can't wait to keep you all updated on our new journey.

This year we headed to the south twice in two months. I must say we loved it, because the weather was always so nice. Plus the ocean was never to far.

Christmas Time Again!!

Christmas has come and gone again. This Christmas I truly treasured because our lives are about to be different. With both of us in the medical field our holidays from this point forward will be limited due to our work schedules. He will soon be in residency and no longer on a school schedule :( I am sad but excited at the same time.

Christmas was so awesome. We were able to see both of our families and some friends while in town. I forgot how much I miss being with our family. So instead of writing about all the fun we had, I will just share our pictures.

Christmas In Heaven

Christmas in Heaven I see the countless CHRISTMAS TREES around the world below with tiny lights like HEAVEN’S STARS reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so SPECTACULAR please wipe away that tear for I am spending CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST this year.

I hear the many CHRISTMAS SONGS that people hold so dear but the SOUND OF MUSIC can't compare with the CHRISTMAS CHOIR up here.

I have no words to tell you of the JOY their voices bring for it is beyond description to HEAR THE ANGELS SING. I know HOW MUCH YOU LOVED ME, I see the pain inside your heart for I am spending CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST this year.

Kelson would have been reaching 4 months old this month and Natalie would only of had 6 more weeks left before we would have seen that sweet face. Oh, how I love and miss them.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I do both. Depends on what the gift is and I love to see both types of wrapping under the tree.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial all the way.

3. When do you put up the tree? The week before Thanksgiving because we travel so much during the holidays which makes it hard to enjoy if put up any later.

So this post is super late. Oh well, life has been busy with lots of changes.

We hosted our first ever holiday this year. Unfortunately I was unable to travel anywhere for the holidays so the family decided to come to us. It actually turned out wonderful. We were able to fit about 9 people in our little apartment comfortably. The food turned out great, conversations were wonderful and the shopping was uncrowded.

Why did I get married?

So, this is my first blog entry, but I figured anything my wife can do I can attempt. So, yes, this is Christopher and I hope you read closely

An interesting phrase permeates our culture. Allow me to set up the scenario:

A male stands on stage in front of a large (or small) audience. All eyes look to him, as he is usually a pastor or worship leader. He then slyly booms into the microphone a paraphrased version of, "My name is [Joe Blo], and I am the luckiest man alive. My wife is a righteous fox and, like all great men before me, I married WAAAAYYYYY above myself. My wife is a much better, prettier, and nicer person than I am!" After his self-applauding snicker subsides, you notice out of the corner of your eye that the speaker's wife is shaking her head in agreement.

The reason this subject came up was due to a comment extremely similar to this one being made by our head pastor at Lifechurch.tv. All I can say is, our pastor and this hypothetical speaker have completely and successfully insulted their spouses. Not only that, but wives who agree with this statement also admit their foolishness by shaking her head in accordance instead of shaking their fingers in disapproval. In essence, this hypothetical man has just stated that his wife has married below herself - as if she had such pity on his poor lost soul that she performed an act of altruism by tying the knot. Her and her spouse are agreeing that this man has failed at his Biblical calling of being a leader in his family. Also, the wife has either poor taste or discernment since she apparently picked a person so far below her. They also apparently approve of seeking a relationship that does not honor God because, after all, we are called to push each other, not to be so sublime comparatively to our partner that he or she does not have the knowledge, faith, nor capability of pushing us also.

My father once stated that I should run the race for God hard and well. When I came of age, I should take a look around at the people running beside me and, of those that were women, to seek one of those to become my wife. Because I did this, my wife did not marry below herself nor did I marry above myself. We married one another because we both seek God and push the other to do so more effectively. Again, if we were based off inequality, one of us would fail so often that an attitude of piety would develop in one while the comfort of failure would plague the other.

This hypothetical situation angers me in a society where men are played off as foolish or dumb and women are made out to personify wisdom itself. Don't believe me? Take a look at many television commercials (sorry Tevo-ers). The man is usually equated to his surrounding children and often seems confused, almost aloof to reality. The woman makes a statement, rolling her eyes at her lost partner, but she knows this is business-as-usual. What embarrassment. The Bible calls us to respect one another and push each other for the better. But, our society's mentality, and especially with our spiritual leaders voicing agreement, will fail our men and women both.

So, if you are a pastor, leader, or man, I beg you to reconsider thinking this statement is even amusing (do you make fun of other verses or concepts in the Bible?). If you are a woman, I pray your head not nod in agreement, but instead sags in embarrassment especially if the above hypothetical situation is true. Also, keep in mind that, whether man or woman, do not marry far above nor below yourself. Create in yourself a strong, reinforced Christian follower that will run the race and run it hard. No one should make you who you are more than the Father. Then, look to your sides and pick a partner who is as committed as you to run well. They will keep pace with you and, as you run, you will find they will push you harder and faster than you could achieve by yourself. If you fall, they will pick you up and tell you to run through that injury because they will help you through it.

Do not ever fail yourself by failing God. Do not ever fail your partner by believing anything but the best will come from them.

Good Company and Lattes...

I have always had a passion for coffee shops. Actually, my mom just bought this little book for me called Laughter and Latte which states, "Coffee is the universal welcome." I love that statement because, in so many ways, it is true. Even if you're not a coffee lover there is just something that draws you. Christopher and I have some of our best conversations sitting in a large comfy chair drinking our lattes. Just tonight we went to a new coffee/tea shop called All About Chai, and there we had a discussion that was indescribably wonderful for us. We were able to open ourselves up on where we are in life, about our struggles of this year, and our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Now, mind you, not all things said were easy to hear but were very much needed. Everyday I am so thankful that God placed such a wonderful man in my life. He is the one who believes in me and pushes me to be the young woman that God has intended me to be.

One of the things that we discussed was prayer, which is probably one of my biggest down falls as a follower of Christ, especially prayer in regards to our future and our purpose. I am always wanting to find my purpose in life. For as long as I can remember I have always had this nagging feeling that I was meant to do something meaningful. So often I complain that I have no direction on where I am supposed to find that purpose that God has laid in front of me. Then, tonight my dear husband pointed something out that was so true: I have not really prayed to God to guide my decisions. For example, I have just accepted a new position at a different facility than the current one I work for. This new position will increase my pay, allow me to work day shift, and I only have to work three days a week. It is the ideal position for anyone but the question I should be asking is this the right decision for me to take. Now please do not misunderstand me, I don't regret taking the position because I do know this right but I never once prayed to ask God for any guidance on this decision.

I am reading this book called Demon: A Memoir by Tosca Lee, which is actually a very interesting read. Plus, I am a total sucker when it comes to the spiritual realm that coexists with us. In this book, the demon Lucien is speaking of his existence.

"As for me, my purpose for living, my role in this great scheme was clear to me from the first: to fall down, to worship, to praise, to wait upon the word of El." (Lucien)
"That sounds really boring." (this is the gentleman that Lucien is talking to)
"Really? Imagine the bliss of fulfilling one's created purpose." (Lucien)

Can you imagine being completely, and utterly fulfilled by knowing your purpose in life. The unfortunate part is that I still do not know what my purpose is, yet as my husband so kindly pointed out, I have not done anything in regards to finding out what God is calling me to do. I do not immerse myself in prayer with the Creator daily seeking his guidance. I continue on this path that God will guide me by allowing certain things to happen, and if they don't happen, then it was not meant to be.

The other realization that I came upon during our conversation regarding prayer is that I have not relinquished the anger that I felt/feel towards God in regards to our previous and current circumstances. I do not disown or deny God, but the feeling that I have is like anger someone would have towards a friend/family member who hurt my feelings. My love for God is not any less, but anger has been allowed to slightly overpower all other emotions. There are so many burning questions such as, "Why can we not have a child?, Why is it difficult for us to get through this interviewing for residency?" There seems to be no resolution or answer to these questions - only sheer darkness. Then again, I must ask myself, "Why do I expect God to answer right at this very moment?" In all honesty I am unsure if I would be able to handle the answer He has for me. Yet instead of continually talking to him in regards to these things, I have completely detached myself. Now the question for me is "Why are you not praying?"

Prayer is all throughout the Bible. And what was the one thing every disciple, prophet, and even Jesus did? They went to the Father in prayer. Here are just a few verses:

" Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make sick person well: the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:13-16

" Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29: 12-13

"Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, 'Pray that you will not fall into temptation' He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done.' " Luke 22: 41-42

Christopher and I looked back at all the major life changes we have gone through and were able to see how God guided us through it all. Thank you Lord for always being there with us in all our trials and may we always remember that you only want the best for us, not to harm us.

Do You Believe?

Do you believe in ghosts? I am a sucker for the paranormal. Most of my shows I watch on TV somehow deal with the subject. My husband, at times, finds this very annoying, but to me it is fascinating. When I watch Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, or Paranormal State I think to myself, "Will they find sound proof that ghosts do exist?" More often than not they find little pieces of evidence where something doesn't seem right, but nothing is ever concrete.

I love the paranormal because it deals with the unknown, which heeds the question, "Do they exist?". For many years, there have been instances where I have been alone, yet I knew in my gut that I wasn't alone. Mostly it was just a feeling, but then there were times where I was afraid. I have never seen anything or experienced something strange; it is just a feeling that overcomes my being. For as much as I am intrigued, I am also very apprehensive about it as well. I know that there is a fine line one walks when dabbling into the paranormal. God warns us of this.

"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults with the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out nations before you." Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Where would one draw the line when seeking out the paranormal? To be honest, I have not once provoked any spirits to make contact with me because honestly I am afraid of what may happen.
Then, on the other hand, I watch as others try to make contact with the dead by any way possible. So I guess the question is, "When does one partake in the practices of speaking to the dead; is it when you actually do the act or is it when observing?". This is not the only time that speaking to the dead is mentioned in the word, and in all verses mentioned, God warns us of this practice. To be honest I do not want to anger God because I fear that more than any ghost I may run into.

The Proverbs Wife

Who is someone you look to and say, "I want to be like them?" This question is hard for me to answer sometimes simply because I am unsure. There are many people that I respect and would like emulate but I can never narrow it to one person. I have been thinking about this for some time now, and it finally hit me. The person that would fit into my answer doesn't actually come from someone I know in life; instead, it is someone I have read about. She is one of the most intriguing women I know to exist. She is the true "Superwoman" and I strive to mold my life just like hers. She has no name but is referred to as " The Wife of Noble Character" and she resides in Proverbs 31. Every time I read her life, I think about what I could be doing better in my own life. She is in love with her husband and she also highly respects him.

"Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm all the days of her life." Proverbs 31: 11-12 (NIV)

I read this and think, "does my husband feel this of me." I try to bring good to him but unfortunately I have brought harm by hurting his feelings in words. He has full confidence in me, but I must work on being mindful of my words so as not to harm but bring good to our marriage.

"She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for the task." Proverbs 31:15-17

In many verses you read of how hard she works for her family and her community. Even with her busy schedule she does not become bitter. Oh how I wish I was this way. At times I am grumpy because Christopher isn't helping out like I think he should. I work a full time job, pay the bills, clean the house, make sure all the maintenance is done on the vehicles, cook meals, go grocery shopping, etc. and most of the time I grump in my head about how I do everything. Then, I read about "The Wife of Noble Character" and she is far busier than me yet she does it all with a grateful heart. She even finds time to help those who are in need. Mmmm, I think I may need a change of heart the next time I grump about my busy schedule.

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed her husband also and he praises her. " Proverbs 31:26-28

These verses paint a beautiful picture of a mother/wife. Her strengths are what I long for in so many ways; her virtue and faith are undeniable. I am in love with her and want to be her. May I always be reminded of her and never stop striving to be the best wife/daughter/sister/friend.

Running Shoes On!!

On my bucket list I mention I would like to complete a half-marathon, well I must confess that I can only run about 1.5 to 2 miles with little interruption. The other day I began to research what type of training I need to do so that I will be able to accomplish this goal, and I groined slightly. I am not a real regimen person and to accomplish my goals I will need to start one. My first goal now is to run without interruption for 30 minutes outside. YIKES!! I have two hits against me right now. First is I haven't done a steady workout routine in a year and I am a treadmill runner. As I continued reading I realized as well that I am going to really have to focus on the food I eat. Now I don't really eat bad except I do LOVE my sweets. So I must say that this will be an interesting goal. Now some of you will ask when I am running in my half-marathon. I know that I should have myself signed up for one but I haven't as of this moment. It is never to early to start, right?!

Its Getting Ghostly In Here

October has officially started this week which means the Halloween decorations came out. For the past several years I haven't really liked decorating for Halloween but this year I decided that it would be fun. Now the only thing missing is a couple of carved pumpkins. I am hoping in a couple of weeks to get out to the pumpkin patch and pick out the best pumpkins for carving.

The other thing that I love about this month is that to watch spooky movies. Most of the time I stay away from these type of movies because I get freaked out so easily, but there is something about Halloween where I desire to be scared. I actually just watched "Horror of Dracula" a 1958 film with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. I loved it but then again I love old films. So after that I decided to create a list of must see Halloween movies. Some I have seen but are always good to see again.

Okay, I am a big baby when it comes to winter but for some reason when fall comes around I begin to get all giddy because I know that it means. HOLIDAY SEASON has begun!!!! I absolutely love all the decorations that can be found at Hobby Lobby which is not always a good thing. Luckily right now we live in a small apartment so there is not a ton of room to store holiday decorations. Though my husband may not be to excited when we have a bigger place because the decorating will commence :)

The other thing that I love about fall is that we can wear light jackets, scarfs and hats. Now don't get me wrong I love wearing my summer attire but there is just something I enjoy in fall attire. It may be that I own more light jackets than needed for one person, plus several scarfs and hats. I feel like I look rather silly in those things during spring and summer.

Also, doesn't it seem like people are slightly happier around this time of year. I tend to find my best of moods when I am handing out Halloween candy to kinds in their cute costumes, Thanksgiving meals with all our family around enjoying everyone company and listening to Christmas music lounging in sweatshirt/sweatpants drinking hot coffee.

Ooh, how I love the Holidays :)

Once Upon Time.....

Most girls dream of one day being a princess in a far away land and having a prince charming come to rescue her from the evil witch. I love to watch my little niece get so excited to put on her princess costumes because it brings back that little girl in me. I am now in my late 20s and have decided to start collecting all the Disney princess movies. My first purchase was last night and this is my favorite princess of all. Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I was so excited that they had not placed her back in the vault yet. Then I found out that Belle is making her debut on Tuesday from the vault, so like a little school girl I placed my order in to reserve a copy. Just because I did that I got this great picture of Belle in her beautiful yellow dress dancing with the Beast in the ballroom. I assume every girls favorite scene from that movie. I believe it does not matter how old you may get the dream of being a beautiful princess is always there. To be honest though now that I am older I have realized that I would prefer queen just because you then rule over everyone and princess is slightly below her :)

This is Christopher's last year of medical school which means next summer he will begin his residency program. Now let me just say, I never imagined becoming a physician could be so complicated. Right now Christopher has sent out at least 35 applications to various residency programs throughout the United States. Now all we do is wait to see which one of those will call us to offer an interview. Then we won't know anything until March 17th which is the big day for majority of medical students called Match Day. So needless to say we are in the waiting game.

I must say that out of the 35 places I have a top 10. Below you will see what the list is but FYI may change before March 17th.

Californa Love!!!

I am back to reality :( Christopher and I have spent the last 5 days out in sunny California. I just may become a full time Cali girl in the future :) We stayed in this beautiful resort called Terrenea that had a breathe taking view of the pacific ocean and Catalina Island. It was crazy because in the mornings the clouds were low which made visibility hard but by noon they lifted and all that could be seen were the boats out on the deep blue. We spent most of our time traveling from beach to beach. We visited Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Huntington Beach. Then we spent a full day out in Hollywood. On Hollywood Blvd we got to visit the Kodak and Chinese Theater, see the famous Hollywood sign, and Madame Tussauds wax museum. We had so much fun and the best part is that we got to spend time with our friends that met us out there.

Today was a hard day for my husband and me. Before I continue why I must explain what this past year has been for us. In a few of my past posts I have hinted around some rough times we have been going through but I have not stated what that was. I really think I wasn't ready because for myself it was hard to understand why this was happening. So here we go.

( Let me introduce you to Kelson Thomas Rose, 7 weeks gestation) My husband and I decided that we both were ready to expand our family back in September 2009. So I stopped my pills and we began our journey in trying to become parents. In November 2009 we found out we were pregnant. Both of us were beyond excited and a little shock that it did not take us that long to get pregnant. We both decided to wait on telling anyone until the first ultra sound was done. Well about 6 weeks into the pregnancy I began to have slight bleeding so they decided to go ahead and do an ultra-sound early. The baby looked like it was developing fine but wanted to check me in a week to make sure all was well. So one week later we went in for the follow-up and found out that the baby was no longer developing. We were devastated but decided to not tell anyone of this and just try again. So we waited the amount of time needed and tried again.

(Let me introduce you to Natalie Dawn Rose, 9 to 10 weeks gestation) In May 2010 we found out we were pregnant again. We were again so excited but still wanted to see the baby before we told anyone about the pregnancy. We went and had an ultra-sound early due to our previous pregnancy. This time we were between 7 to 8 weeks along when we say the baby. It was beautiful in so many ways. It was measuring great and the heart beat was 120 to 130. The doctor was just as excited for us but wanted to have another ultra-sound done in a week to two weeks. This time we told our family because everything looked so great. Well when we went to our next ultra-sound two weeks later we were told that the baby no longer was developing. This was a hard blow to us both. We had a hard time understanding what went wrong. Our thoughts can not wrap around the thought of why the baby looked great and then nothing. Plus this is the second time with the same situation.

The names you see before each paragraph is what Christopher and I named our babies that we lost because they will always be in our hearts and thoughts.

So now we are ready to begin with the happenings of today.

This morning I had to have a D&C done due to my body not being able to pass all the tissue on its own. A dilation and curettage (D&C) is where the doctor has to dilate the cervix and remove the uterine lining with an instrument called a curette. My body for the past six weeks has been trying to take care of itself but has been unable to do so which meant it needed a little help.

Let me state I like being on the opposite side of the situation. I forgot how high my anxiety can get when I am in the hospital setting as a patient not as a nurse. Then again I have been told nurses and doctors make the worst patients :)

The procedure took place on the labor and delivery unit. They placed me in this little room to begin all my pre-op procedures. First thought was great I have to have a peripheral IV placed. Last time I had to have one they had to stick me several times. Well today was no different. The sweet nurse told me I had small crooked veins which made it difficult. Once that was complete I had to wait on the anaesthesiologist to let me know what will happen. I must state that the anaesthesiologist that I had was super nice and explained everything so well to me. He told me that I would get a spinal injection to numb me. WHAT!! NOPE. He then proceeded to tell me it was this way or a complete knock out with intubation or some doctors just use IV medications. After the explanation was complete I told him the spinal injection would be the option over intubation but would prefer IV meds if this case calls for it. I am one lucky girl because IV meds was the choice. Let me say the meds I did receive were awesome except one was slightly creepy, Ketamine. This drug made the walls move and other weird things. Come to find out it tends to make people hallucinate some. It is like PCP but slightly different, all I know it was an awful feeling not knowing what was real.

After all that we had to wait for awhile before they were able to take me back due to emergencies that came in. As we were waiting I began to cry. I had so many emotions running through my mind at that time but mostly I told my husband that I don't think I can go through another miscarriage. If we do become pregnant again I want to take home a baby. We both sat in silence and just embraced each other. This has been a long hard journey for us and I believe we both feel the same.

Okay enough sappy. The procedure was done in another room and lasted 40 minutes. After the procedure was done I was one loony tune. First thing I remember was recognizing my doctors voice and so I tried to talk (probably yelling) to her. I am sure I said some very weird things to her. My husband said he could hear me down the hall talking. My eyes felt so heavy so to keep them open I would do the wide eye look but focusing was just not happening. Sadly my husband thought it would be funny to voice record me. Must find phone and delete the recording :) As we were waiting on me to recovery my heart became heavy and tears welled up again. I was ready to go home.

With all that said I have to say I could not have done this without the love and support that my husband continues to give me. I love him in every way possible.

I am doing great now just cramping in the abdomen region and I look forward to what is ahead of us. In God there is always hope.

~My Hips Don't Lie~

I have always been slightly jealous of the girls that could wear skinny jeans because I just knew in my mind that I could not. Thanks to God for the blessing of my figure and to Shakira for I now have a good way to describe my hips. The thought of my hips in skinny jeans is just not a pretty picture. The one thing I avoid in dressing myself is making my hips stand out more than they have to. So while I was visiting family this past weekend we decided the mall would be a good place to go. Now my brother-in-law Eric works at Pac Sun and when we are there he always takes Christopher there to buy some fashionable clothes. So while I was browsing the cloths racks I came across a large inventory of skinny jeans. There where these grey colored skinny jeans that just looked really cute. I cautiously picked up a pair and stuck them under my arm. As I went into the dressing room I questioned whether I should try them on or just save myself the disappointment by not. I slowly put one let in at a time and then slowly pulled them up. Once I had them buttoned I was thinking they where not as tight as I originally thought they would be. I also paired them with a very cute floral top. As I turned and looked in the mirror I gasped because they actually looked cute on. Now Christopher was waiting by the dressing room door waiting on me to show off what I or he had picked out. I opened the door and he just stood there for a second. My brother-in-law Eric was also there and he liked them on. I asked Christopher and he also liked them. As I stood there examining myself Eric brought this really cute gray hat that matched the outfit wonderfully.

So after all that worry and jealousy I can wear skinny jeans.

Era of Romance

One of my favorite movies is Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated with that time period type movies, so when Pride and Prejudice came out I had to own it. (Got to love Jane Austen) Well since Christopher has been very busy with Medical School I decided this would be the best time to watch some of those movies. So I looked up movies from the BBC to see what they had and found so many great movies. The best part was that I watched many of them off of youtube.com. Some of my favorites so far are Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, and Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell. Now the ones by Elizabeth Gaskell were actually mini-series from the BBC. I have also watched Wuthering Heights which I must say was not one of my favorites and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall which was pretty good.

It has been so much fun going through all these movies/mini-series because I find this era very romantic in so many ways. I love some of the order in which people held themselves back in that time. Honor and respect were very vital for them, which I must say sadly now is not seen very often at all. Also I love the Victorian look about the ladies.

When A Man Loves A Woman

I remember creating a list of things I wanted in my future husband and one of the things I put on there was a man with dark hair because I always had a thing for blondes. Well he did have dark hair and everything else that was on that list which consisted of strong christian man, good sense of humor, loves being with family, compassionate, goal oriented, dark hair, taller than me and someone who will love me for who I am.

We have been married 4 years today. Wow, it is hard to believe that we are already at 4 years but I can't wait to spend 60 plus more years with this same man. Everyday I thank God that he has given me such a man to share life with.

Here is a look at the last four years of how we celebrated wedding bliss.

Here we are our first year celebration was a great little Bed and Breakfast. It was the perfect way to celebrate one year of wedded bliss.

Our second year celebration was at Frontier City in Oklahoma City. We like adventures and never had done an amusement park together.

Third year celebration was in Dallas. This was the first time that Christopher had ever visited the great state of Texas. It was a great weekend getaway.

Fourth year celebration. Buffalo Wild Wings and Marble Slab. Didn't have the time for a big getaway like we did the past celebrations.

Here is where we started our journey as husband and wife. Our wedding was one of the best days in my life. I just can not say this enough that God blessed me with the best man in the whole world. I look forward to writing our story of life together.

My favorite verse is from the book of Ruth. Now I know that this is between Naomi and Ruth but it spoke true to how I feel about my life with Christopher.

It is always a good morning when I first get to sleep at night and when I have a cup of coffee. The nice part is that I always have good coffee to brew because my father-in-law always buys the best. Thanks Bill!!!! Hope you all have a very blessed day.

Girls Weekend

This weekend was no sales tax which meant shop till you drop. Actually my ankles hurt today after two straight days of walking. Mom came into town which made shopping just that much more fun. I am now officially ready for vacation, because I got a new swimsuit with cover, new purses, new shirts, new shoes, and new dresses. I must say this was a great weekend. The only bad part was that I have my second cold for the summer. Stinkers!!!

A month ago when I went to my parents house my mom bought me a bump-it for my hair. Well today was my first day to wear it. I think it is actually fun. It is hard to get used to my hair being so high on the top of my head. Here is pictures with it in. Hope all had a wonderful weekend as well.

Right now my husband is super busy with medical school, which means I have a ton of "me" time. So I was thinking of things I could do during my "me" time, then I realized that this is an opportunity that God was giving me. For several months I have been avoiding God in every aspect of my life. Not that I don't want anything to do with God, I just wasn't ready to face him yet. I have been so focused on myself with whats happened and good at avoiding God that I don't even think about my quiet times anymore. Well this is going to change because I am not going to allow myself to completely walk away from God. I have self pitied enough and now I need to rediscover my relationship with my Savior.

So today I went to the book store to pick out a study guide since it has been awhile I thought I might need a little guidance. As I stood there in the Inspirational Aisle my heart began to race and anxiety kicked in. There was so many books and I had no idea how to find what I was needing because I didn't even know what I was looking for. I just said a little prayer and began looking at each row one by one. So many inspirational books caught my eye but none that were focused on scripture. About 20 minutes later I was becoming discouraged then I found a section that had several that focused on women. I began to finger through each one to see what I could find. To be honest there were quite a few that looked great but not what I needed. Then I found exactly what I was needing "Jesus: 90 Days With The One and Only" by Beth Moore, which is funny because I am not a huge fan of hers and also I choose the only book that did not focus on women. My relationship with my Savior has suffered due to my actions and so I knew I needed this. I picked the massive book up and thumbed through to see what the content was. In my mind as I looked through it I was screaming "Yes, I have found the book to help me rediscover Jesus". Each page had multiple scriptures with questions to help me to reflect on. So with that off to the check out line I went.

I am now home and will begin day 1 today. In my heart I am so excited to be spending this time with God because I so want what I had with him and more. Even though I have not sought God for guidance during my time of need he has sought me out. So many times he has made his presence known to let me know "I am here, please come to me". Guess what I am answering back with complete joy. Along with my excitement I am nervous because I know my actions where inappropriate and I know I have hurt the one who always loves me. So I must take my pride and set it aside to humble myself. Being with God is the most satisfying times of the day, why did or would I ever walk away? A new journey begins.

Small Anniversary Celebration

Yesterday Christopher and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary early. Now our actual day is not until August 12th but Christopher is out of down that day so the only day we had was this Saturday. So here are a few pictures. It was extremely romantic :) We first went to open presents at home (which I got the new Sara Mclachlan CD with a new scrub top) then proceeded to Buffalo Wild Wings for a romantic candle light dinner. To end our night we stopped by Marble Slap Ice Cream Shop and rented Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. To be honest yesterday was one of our best date nights.

Realization

So yesterday was just not a good day for me. I wish I could blame my bad attitude on the lack of sleep that I have had but it was not the first time I had been up for 24 hours straight (got to love night shift). Right now I feel that I am unable to control my emotions which if you knew me this is for the most part out of character. My poor husband is the one who has to endure all these emotions. For instance I will call him during the day crying because of something that was so insignificant, I will shut myself off because I don't feel like talking, I get so angry over the smallest things and then there are times I am happy. After saying that all what comes to mind is "my poor husband".

Today I woke up feeling more like me which is nice because now I can ponder on my attitude from yesterday. For several days I have been considering an option that I would have never saw myself considering, medication. Now I am not against medication or trying to disrespect those on the medication. I am just struggling with the thought that I may not get over this problem by myself and may need help. The last time we went through this roller coaster I believe it took me a good two months to settle myself out, so needless to say the second time is harder.

The other issue I must come to terms with is that I am not the same person that I was before this all happened. I won't go back to the exact way I was. If you would have asked me 3 or more years ago if I could handle what has just happened I would have said no. Now in the midst of our problem I am finding out that I can't handle this by myself. The only way to get through this is to lean on God, talk to those who love me and know I will be ok in the end whatever the out come may be.

Becoming a California Girl!!

So my husband and I are leaving for Los Angles, California in about 5 or 6 weeks, which is super exciting. Now the only problem I have is that I am not ready because in my mind I have not the right clothes to wear, no tan to impress and a little extra fat that I know does not exist there :) So I am on a crash course to becoming a California girl. Today I did a little bit of shopping for some cute clothes which I have found to be very hard. We are on a tight budget so shopping for things we want is very hard since a shirt can cost up $25.00 or more. Thanks to Charlotte Russe's clearance I found two skirts, one top and boots for a reasonable amount. Next is to see if I can find a cute swim suit for a decent price since our resort is located off the beach, but before I do this I must get some kind of tan and tone to my figure. For those who know me I am as white as they come. The make-up companies nicely say fair skin but I know that I am what they call extra white skin. My skin just has no concept of what a tan is but it definitely knows what it is to be the color of a lobster. So this will be a very big challenge for me. Working out is also a problem and not in the part that I can not become tone but that I hate to work out. I do a little here and there just to stay within weight but I have to start a regimen of daily squats, sit-ups, push-ups and running so I don't end up on the worst beach body list. This regimen however has not begun but oh let me tell you it will tomorrow. So there you have it my crash course in becoming a California girl. Now I know that this will not actually make me a California girl nor will it disguise that I am tourist but it is always fun to try.

New Blog, New Outlook!!

So as you can see I have created a new blogsite because at this moment I am slowly reinventing myself. So what better way to see the progress than through here. This past year has been an extremely emotional roller coaster ride for my husband and myself. Not even our closest family members know of all our hardships. At this moment in time we are facing coming up changes such as residency programs for my husband, living arrangements in less than a year, schooling for myself and various other concerns. So I should have plenty to discuss this time for the blog. I hope you come with us on this new journey that the Lord will take us on.
